The Merit School of Music

Merit School of Music, originally in New Canaan for over 45 years, offers outstanding private music instruction for piano, guitar, strings, brass, and woodwinds. Our music school staff consists of over 25 private teachers.

 

About the Music Facility

Our Music Facility, now on Main Street in Norwalk, is over 8,200 square feet. It houses 14 lesson rooms, a retail area, several spacious waiting areas, and a recital hall. The recital hall houses two local orchestras, many recitals and performances. It is available for local events and classes. Inquire with management about availability. The Director

Polly Torrence has directed the Merit School of Music for almost 10 years. She is a music educator (over 30 years) dedicated to providing the finest of musical education. Polly has taught orchestra, band, choir and holds a Masters degree in Oboe Performance. Currently she performs with local ensembles, teaches music in Fairfield and is the Youth Choir Director at Golden Hill Methodist Church.

School enrollment is by semester with prorated tuition. Tuition is payable in full prior to each semester. Payment Policy

Lessons are held once a week at the same time every week. The amount of lessons per semester will vary depending on the day of week and holidays. Our calendar for 2007-2008 is below.
